Besides, the location was stunning and incredible for our stay, within 15 minutes' walk of St James. The property was set in a nice area. We loved extremely comfy beds. There was lots of food for breakfast, it was well presented!

The hotel is being renovated. General condition shabby. Our room had already been renovated. Also the bathroom was finished.no water pressure. Just a trickle.
The condition of the run-down hotel.

Accessibility to Oxford. Direct accessibility to the River Thames. Location to Wallingford and adjacent open countryside/Thames path, etc.
Room facilities very tired/worn. Window surrounds in need of cleaning and maintenance. Signs of dampness/mould in bathroom.

Extremely pleasant and helpful staff, Relaxed atmosphere and delightful setting on the banks of the Thames. A great place for visiting local attractions such as Henley and Oxford.
Some areas of hotel have been renovated but other areas in need with tired carpets and decor.

We were fortunate to have a room with a lovely view and the beds were really comfortable. the staff were most pleasant.
We had a set dinner booked which was served well by the staff, however the beef was overcooked and in consequence was very tough. the port ran out. We have more than one bottle in our small wine cellar at home! We had expected to pay for our dinner with our room and paying up front by our group treasurer has caused us all a great deal of inconv- enience.

Very helpful staff - a bit disorganised (ordered breakfast to be sent to room but nothing arrived until prompted!) Rooms comfortable but a bit tired.(dripping tap - shower fitting needed tightening) but nevertheless a very pleasant atmosphere and a great location.

The Shillingford Bridge Hotel is right on the Thames in a lovely relaxing location. It is comfortable and clean, yet preserves an aura of old-world charm. We were delighted with the room and I would love to go back some day for a much longer stay.

Location, Peacefull
The service at breakfast on the second morning was substandard. ie: Coffee Machine was empty, Empty trays that held the cups were not cleared to enable you to use the cups on the next tray, Bowls on tables that held sugar was empty of white sugar (Should these not be replenished each evening ready for morning?) I would have thought the staff on duty in the dining room in the morning were there to overlook and ensure these things are attended to without your guests having to bring it to their attention.

Perfect family getaway with some noise issues
Had a nice 2-night stay with the family. The views were gorgeous, and our corner room was spacious! Restaurant food was decent and reasonably priced. But man, we had a wedding party outside, and it was loud. Couldn't sleep well because of the shouting and door slamming. Still, the bar staff were great!

The only thing that is worth looking at are the stunning views of the river. The location is idyllic.
What a pity that this hotel does not match its perfect location. It is a dingy mess of odd buildings. The service in the restaurant and bar was dire, we waited so long for food that it became too late to eat. This hotel needs to be demolished and rebuilt to a standard that befits its location. A real disappointment.

The staff on duty in the restaurant were polite, courteous and friendly. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean.
We were extremely disappointed and very annoyed. We did not get the room we had booked. As this was to be a special weekend away, we had chosen a premier room, with sofa bed, and paid the additional sum which gave us "free cancellation", hoping that would also guarantee the room we had booked. When we arrived we were allocated a very small double room, which we rejected immediately. We were then allocated a room which was a little larger but did not include the sofa bed. We were informed our room had been given to someone else, I presume a member of a tour that was staying in the hotel. We protested, showed our booking form but the under manager and reception staff were adamant, there was no way we could have the room we had booked. We considered moving to another hotel but we had been travelling all day and were very tired. We were given a 10% discount but I doubt that covered the difference in the price of the room we had paid for and the room we had no alternative but to accept. We are left wondering what you have to do to get the room you have booked. All this quite spoilt our weekend. It is not the kind of impression the tourist industry should be giving to visitors, particularly those from abroad.
